From its founding on mainland China in 1946 and it involvement in the Chinese Civil War from 1947 – 1949, when it earned the moniker “The World’s Most Shot At Airlines,” to its secret acquisition by the CIA in 1950 and the role it played in carrying out clandestine air missions during the height of the Cold War while at the same time developing into the premier commercial airline in the Far East during the 1950s and 1960s.  It truly is a very fascinating, but unfortunately not often told, story.
