2021 Air Show Format and Updates

THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN Fans!

By now you may know we have redeveloped the Air Show into an event that works best for today’s climate. While things are improving, we are doing everything possible to ensure the show will go on in 2021! 

THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN will take flight August 7th and 8th and that it will take on an entirely new look for 2021 as a Drive-In Air Show! 

This year’s theme is “Mitchell Madnessthe World's Largest Gathering of B-25s. We are also excited to announce we will be hosting the United States Air Force F-35 Demo Team and the United States Air Force Thunderbirds!* 

The Format

We are having TWO Drive-In shows per day; a morning and an afternoon show. You will be able to choose which show you would like to attend. 

Morning Show

Start Time: Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am 
Featured Acts: B-25 “Mitchell Madness” · The F-35 Demo Team

Afternoon Show

Start Time: Saturday and Sunday, 1:30pm
Featured Acts: B-25 “Mitchell Madness” · The USAF Thunderbirds

We've pulled out all the stops to make 2021 an incredible year for air performances at THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN with USAF Thunderbirds and USAF F-35 Demo Team!

COVID-19 Preparedness

Keeping everyone safe and comfortable, the drive-in show seeks to follow recommended guidelines pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following changes will be in place:

  • Capacity will be limited (be sure to choose the day/time with the jet team you want to see most!)
  • You can pack as many people in your car that you can (legally) and it will be included in the Drive-In Car Pass.
  • Patrons will be allowed to sit outside directly adjacent to their vehicle on the passenger side.
  • Parking is first come first served, no reserved parking spots.
  • Large recreational vehicles will be parked in back (ie. RV, motorhome, bus, fifth wheel etc.).
  • The Air Show will be an aerial performance show only. No static displays.
  • You are encouraged to bring in coolers full of food, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • No BBQ or tailgating will be allowed.
  • No alcohol allowed.
  • Social distancing guidelines will be in place; details will be emailed prior to show.
  • Restrooms, first aid and sanitation stations will be available onsite.
  • There will be no Club Seating for the 2021 show.
