Wednesday, March 1st
Historic Presentation Night – 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
Dr. Guy Stern, Director of the Harry and Wanda Zekelman International Institute of the Righteous at the Holocaust Memorial Center will be presenting on his personal experience during World War Two fighting as a Ritchie Boy, a U.S. special military intelligence unit in World War II composed mainly of German-speaking immigrants to the United States. Dr. Stern will also be speaking on his recent involvement in an exhibit opening at the invasion coast of Normandy where he also became involved in several commemorative activities honoring US soldiers (and his outfit) taking part in the invasion.

Historic Presentation Night – 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
Albert Kahn’s Architectural Legacy: The Ubiquitous Mr. Kahn.
In the first half of the 20th Century, Detroit architect Albert Kahn revolutionized the design of industrial buildings around the world. He also influenced the artistic and aesthetic elements of commercial and residential structures, in a variety of styles and forms. Joel Stone, Senior Curator at the Detroit Historical Society, will examine Kahn’s career and the vast legacy of architectural treasures he created for the people of Detroit.

American Bistro
Doors open at 5:30pm and dinner is at 6:30 pm.
Our highly anticipated Annual Bistro event helps kick off the spring flying season with a 1940’s USO dance and dinner! Enjoy an evening full of fun in the backdrop of a vintage aircraft hangar! This is one of our longest running events and it is so popular that is always sells out.

“GI Jew: Jewish Americans in WWII” presented by Deborah Moore.
University of Michigan Professor, Deborah Dash Moore will be speaking on Jewish Americans who fought in World War II. She will also talk about the book she wrote, GI Jews that examined the experience of American Jews in military service.

Detroit Aviation and Airline Collectibles Show – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Stop by the Museum for the Second Annual Detroit Aviation and Airline Collectibles Show! We’re bringing back this popular event where guests can see and buy rare aviation related collectible items from private vendors! Admission is $5 and includes access to the Collectibles show, static aircraft displays, Willow Run history tours, and special rates for Open Cockpit Biplane rides (weather permitting)! Make sure you add this special event to your calendar!

Saturday, May 20th
Bomber Buffing
Bring your kids and help us get the B-17 Yankee Lady and B-25 Yankee Warrior ready for the flying season at the annual Bomber Buffing polishing party! Make sure to wear your working clothes as you get up close to the historic aircraft. Admission to this event is free.

Wednesday, June 7th
Historic Presentation Night – 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
“The Hiroshima Decision” Barry Levine
Yankee Air Museum’s Barry Levine will be presenting on the people and decisions that lead to the bombing at Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. He will also be discussing the Manhattan project and President Truman’s decision for using an atomic weapon.

June 23rd-25th
The Great Canadian Getaway on the C-47
Spend the weekend exploring the great Canadian city of Toronto! The trip begins with a flight on the Museum’s C-47 “Yankee Doodle Dandy” to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum where you will then have a tour. Enjoy a free night Friday and Saturday afternoon to explore the city and its many attractions such as the Royal Ontario Museum, Hockey Hall of Fame, Casa Loma, Ripley’s Aquarium of Toronto, etc. Spend Saturday night enjoying a three-course dinner while gazing at the Toronto skyline at the CN Tower. Historic Presentation Night – 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
“The A-4 Skyhawk” A-4 Pilot Paul Galanti

The Yankee Air Museum recently added to their collection an A-4 Skyhawk! For this presentation, you will hear stories about the aircraft during its service days from one of the pilots who flew her, Mr. Paul Galanti. Galanti flew 97 missions in his A-4 Skyhawk before being shot down and captured in 1966. He remained a Prisoner of War for nearly seven years until he was released in 1973. Come listen to his heroic stories and how he flew with our A-4. Our newly acquired A-4 Skyhawk is painted in the livery of Lt. J G Paul Galanti to honor his courageous service.

Evening on the Yacht (St. Clair Shores)
Join us for an unforgettable evening as we cruise Lake St. Clair! This will be a wonderful evening including dinner, an open bar and complimentary valet parking. With a beautiful air display of the Museum’s aircraft, you can watch and dance as the sun sets over Lake St. Clair!

Wednesday, August 2nd
Historic Presentation Night – 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
Local author, Warren B. Carah will be speaking about his father, Lt. Col. John M. Carah, who was one of the few airmen to escape capture after his B-17 was shot down over France in the summer of 1943. He will be retelling the heroic deeds of his father and crew members who helped the United States win World War Two.

Saturday, August 13th
Willow Run Victory Car Show
The 3rd Annual Willow Run Victory Car show is slated for Sunday, August 13, 2017 with on site registration beginning at 9:00AM. Registration is just $20.00 per car. The show is held on the expansive grass lot on the north side of Yankee Air Museum. Picnic lunches and pop-up tents are welcome! For the ultimate photo opportunity, Yankee Air Museum will be selling rides in its open cockpit Waco biplane (operating conditions permitting) affording you the chance to fly over the entire show field and see all of the cars at once! “Spirit of Willow Run” award, “Best in Show” and an entire list of prizes are up for grabs. So get that show car shined and kick off “Woodward Week” right at the Willow Run Victory Car Show. The Museum will be open and there is no charge for admission on Sunday, August 13, 2017 making the Willow Run Victory Car Show the perfect destination for the car enthusiast and family outing.
